The API Council is made up of:
- three independent members, including the Chair;
- up to six registered API Provider Standards Users; and
- up to six registered Third Party Standards Users.
Terese Tunnicliffe, Independent Chair
Terese has over 25 years' experience in the payments industry leading payments businesses within banking. In the last 8 years, Terese has worked in a number of governance and advisory roles across young businesses bringing new digital opportunities to market as well as her role as the Independent Chair of the API Council.
Jessica Venning-Bryan, Independent
Jessica has spent two decades advising executive teams and boards on how to engage consumers with new technologies, projects and brands. From beer to electricity, voting systems to software, she’s delivered projects in New Zealand, Australia, the United States and the UK. She was part of the founding team at disruptive electricity retailer Flick Electric Co., successfully exiting to Z Energy in 2018, and is currently Global Vice President of Client Success for energy software company Flux Federation. Jessica is also the Founder and Managing Trustee of Cultivate Mentoring Lab, a not-for-profit that partners women with experienced mentors to help them grow their confidence and progress equally at work. She has served on the Board of PledgeMe, New Zealand’s first crowdfunding platform, the National Council of Women, and as a mentor with start-up accelerator Creative HQ.
Paul Munro, Independent
Paul has over 25 years of financial and commercial experience across a broad cross section of companies and industries including a 24 year career as a Corporate Finance Partner at Deloitte and six years as CEO of a publicly owned investment company which managed a portfolio of commercial infrastructure investments. Paul has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, NZX listed market transactions including IPOs and debt capital market bond issues, capital structuring and funding of infrastructure projects, investment management, strategy development and performance oversight.
Paul also has 10+ years’ experience as an Independent Director with his Board experience spanning a range of entities and sectors including current or former Director roles on the boards of Tait Communications, New Zealand King Salmon, Orion New Zealand, EA Networks, Cambridge Partners, Online Distribution, Central Plains Water and Toitu Envirocare.
Paul is a Chartered Accountant Fellow (FCA) of CAANZ and a Chartered Fellow (CFInstD) of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.
Andrew Dodd, ASB
Andrew Dodd is the Head of payments strategy and industry collaboration at ASB. He has more than 35 years banking industry experience. His current role includes responsibility for working with partners to investigate the use of new technologies and business models in payments.
Angela Woodford, Kiwibank
Angela is Senior Product Manager at Kiwibank Limited. She has more than 20 years of banking experience specialising in payments, and 11 years’ experience in life insurance. Angela is a current member of the Payments NZ Bulk Electronic Clearing System management committee.
A graduate from Massey University, Angela has a Bachelor of Business Studies and is an Associate member of the Insurance Institute of NZ.
Brian Bonar, ANZ
Brian is a seasoned payments industry leader with in-depth chair, board and committee experience. Strategic collaborator across payments, regulatory and fintech domains. Builder of effective relationships and driving change at a country level, for the benefit of all. Brian is currently Head of Payments Industry & Risk at ANZ, Chairman of New Zealand's SWIFT National Member & User Groups and Chair of CLS NZ Dollar Treasurers Working Group.
Brian is also ANZ’s Shareholder & Management Committee representative at Payments NZ and ANZ’s payments relationship lead with Reserve Bank of New Zealand. Previously Brian has also held executive roles with NZ Bankers’ Association and Interchange & Settlement Ltd.
Jonathan Dale, BNZ
Jonathon Dale is Head of Payment Development for BNZ, responsible for the delivery of Open Banking for BNZ and unlocking customer value from API development. Jonathon has worked in the Financial Services, Central Government and the Aviation industry across Innovation, Product Management and Commercialisation roles.
Tina Groark, Middleware NZ
Tina is the Open Banking Practice Lead for The Middleware Group, including Middleware NZ and Glueware. She is passionate about building an effective ecosystem for Open Banking and Digital Identity for New Zealand and has been actively involved in assisting the New Zealand and Australian banking industries in their Open Banking and Consumer Data Right implementations. Tina has a background in technology consulting and business strategy development, as well as nurturing and guiding startups to reach their potential.
Ashley Lake-Johns, Qippay Ltd
Ashley has worked for a number of technology and financial companies in Australia and New Zealand, gaining experience in sales, account management, team building, trading, payments, and product development. Having first-hand in finance and technology, Ashley is now committed to seeing fintech and open banking play a larger role in creating financial inclusion.
Jack Callister, 402 Systems Limited (Volley)
Jack is an experienced software engineer and co-founder of Volley, an Open Banking powered peer-to-peer payments app and merchant payment gateway. Jack honed his expertise through roles at Powerswitch, Wellington City Council, and NZTE and brings a passion for creating world-class consumer focused experiences.
Kimberley Walker, Westpac New Zealand
Kimberley is the Portfolio Head Transactional Banking Products and Payments. She brings over 12 years of experience in the banking and payment solutions across Australia, Singapore and New Zealand, and currently leads the team responsible for managing open banking. Kimberley is also Westpac’s alternative director for the Payment New Zealand Board.
Drew Broadley, Usable Balance Limited
Drew has spent his past in financial businesses, starting with founding a paperless receipts business (acquired by Antipodean Labs, San Francisco, 2014), co-founding a common ledger accountants platform (exited 2017) and being CTO of a P2P lending product. Along with this, Drew has spent over seven years in the public sector, leading ACC's Digital Transformation in the client space, and in an Executive role at Stats NZ founding and leading Data Ventures.
